ABB CS31 Procontic ARCNET Single Packet DDE Server

The Klinkmann Automation ABB CS31 Procontic ARCNET Single Packet DDE Server (ABBARCNS) is a Microsoft Windows application program that acts as a communication protocol Server and allows other Windows application programs to access to data from ABB Procontic CS31 automation system using the ARCNET network.

The main difference between Klinkmann Automation ABBARCNS Server and ABB Arcnet Server (ABB_ARCN, order number DR 010 15 for 32-bit ISA version) is the number of jobs which can be configured for one Controller to transfer data between the computer and Controller. In case of ABBARCNS Server only one job is used (single data packet transferred). It simplifies the necessary additions in the ABB PLC program to support Arcnet interface.

Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE or FastDDE Client may use the ABBARCNS Server.

There are following ABBARCNS Server versions available:

- ABBARCNS DDE Server (32-bit), can be used on MS Windows NT.

FEATURES

Requires a PC bus ARCNET adapter card (8 or 16 bit, e.g. ARCNET-PC130E Network Controller Board) based on the SMC ARCNET chip to communicate with ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93 and 07KT97 Controllers.

Fast data access (2,5 Mhz) to data from the ARCNET bus.

Each controller program needs one unique job for data transfer on the Arcnet network.

The Server minimizes system message traffic by dynamically calculating and optimizing poll lists to read only, client-requested items/points.

The Server supports multiple topics, allowing different data update rates for controller.

The Server provides a communication status flag for each topic.

The Server supports standard DDE among multiple applications.

SPECIFICATIONS

Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously.

Software: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 for DR 010 35.

Maximum Connections: Up to 8 ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93 PLCs can be connected on the ARCNET network.

Devices Supported: ABB Procontic CS31 07KT93 with R161 Central Unit.
