CIMD2 Nokia GSM SMS Center-PC interface Communication Server

The Klinkmann Automation CIMD2 IOS Communication Server ("CIMD2IOS Server") is a Microsoft Windows 32-bit application program that acts as a communication protocol Server and allows other Windows application programs to exchange data with remote GSM devices (GSM mobile phones, modems etc.) by sending and receiving SMS messages through Short Messages Service Centers (SMSC) by using the CIMD2 (Computer Interface to Message Distribution) protocol. Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE, FastDDE or SuiteLink Client may use the CIMD2IOS Server.

FEATURES

CIMD2IOS Server (if running on MS Windows NT, W2K or XP) supports the Suite Link communication protocol.

Server requires an Ethernet card and TCP/IP protocol (supporting Windows Sockets interface) to be installed on the computer to communicate with SMSC over TCP/IP network.

CIMD2IOS Server supports freely configurable data formatting and extracting from SMS messages - all configuration information related to SMS messages (including I/O item naming) is stored in manually prepared text file, which is read at CIMD2IOS Server startup.

The checking whether the link between the Server and SMSC is still alive is supported.

The sending of SMS messages to SMSC is possible on two main conditions: 1) on special flag (built-in integer I/O item) value change and 2) in case value changes at least of one I/O item linked with corresponding SMS message.

The special measurement messages (including several measurement values for one I/O item) are supported.

The Server supports multiple topics, allowing to identify specific group of I/O items.

The Server provides a communication status flag for each topic.

The Server supports standard DDE among multiple applications.

SPECIFICATIONS

Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM or more for Windows NT, W2K and XP). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously.

Software: Microsoft Windows NT, W2K, XP or 95 (98).

Maximum Connections: The CIMD2IOS Server can be simultaneously connected to several different SMSCs.

Devices Supported: Short Messages Service Centers supporting CIMD2 interface.

Accessible Item/Point Types: All information about data formatting and extracting from SMS messages and I/O item names supported by CIMD2IOS Server is stored in manually prepared text file with fixed name config.txt. This file is read at CIMD2IOS Server startup.

The Server also supports general purpose "built-in" I/O items, allowing to control and monitor the communication with SMSC, as well as to freely send SMS messages apart from config.txt contents (even if config.txt is empty or does not exist).
