Product Data Sheet GSM-DIAL (PLC Dialer for GSM modems)
The Klinkmann Automation
GSM-DIAL (PLC
Dialer for GSM modems) is a Windows 32-bit application program used to create
the connection between Communication Server (OPC or DDE) supporting serial
communications ("Serial Communication Server") and Programmable
Logic Controller (PLC) over the GSM network, so making available data
exchange between Communication Server and PLC using GSM data communications. The
GSM-DIAL runs on MS Windows NT or 95 and needs the GSM modem (e.g. Siemens M20 Terminal or other
supporting standard AT command interface and AT Cellular commands (GSM
07.07)) to be connected to PC standard (RS-232) serial port. Both GSM modem
and standard modem can be used at PLC side. The modem used at PLC side
(Remote Modem) must be able to save configuration to modem's non-volatile
memory. The Remote Modem can be configured only once before connection to PLC
and telephone line. The modem used at computer (Serial Communication Server)
side (Local Modem) may not have this feature. The Local Modem can be
configured every time before the Serial Communication Server startup. The
modem dialing and hang-up with GSM-DIAL can be also performed using OPC or
DDE. The GSM-DIAL can act as a OPC (OLE for Process Control) or DDE (Dynamic
Data Exchange) Server allowing other Windows application programs to send the
phone number to be dialed to the GSM-DIAL and receive the dialing result. KLINKMANN
supplies and develops the necessary OPC and DDE Servers for all major PLCs
and devices - ask availability.
FEATURES All
necessary settings for serial ports and modems are provided. The
GSM-DIAL works with GSM modems supporting standard AT commands and
AT+Cellular commands (GSM 07.07). The
GSM-DIAL can be started with two command line parameters. One parameter is
the phone number to dial when GSM-DIAL is started. Another parameter is the
name of executable to be started after dialing. The
GSM-DIAL configuration settings are stored in the GSM-DIAL.INI file. The GSM-DIAL supports two OPC or DDE items: phone number to be dialed and the result of dialing. This allows to perform the automatic dialing from any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as an OPC or DDE Client.
SPECIFICATIONS Hardware IBM or
compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for
Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously.
Software
Microsoft Windows NT, W2K, XP or 95 (98). Connections One serial port on PC can be connected to one GSM or standard modem. Devices Supported GSM
modems (e.g. Siemens M20 Terminal or TC35) supporting standard AT command
interface and AT Cellular commands (GSM 07.07). At PLC side also standard
modems can be used. Communication Settings
Supported Data transmission rate up to 9600 bit/s in
non-transparent mode. The communication protocol used to communicate with Serial
Communication Server should support 10-bit frames, e.g. 8 data bits, 1 stop
bit, no parity. Main Menu Commands There are following GSM-DIAL
top-level menu items available: File -
executes and terminates Serial Communication Server, closes the GSM-DIAL
program. Port - used
for opening, closing and setting parameters for communication port. Modem - used
for the setting of modem parameters, initializing, dialing and hanging up the
modem. Remote Modem - used
for the setting of parameters for Remote Modem and for Remote Modem
initialization. Options - used
for invoking the "Options" dialog box where additional GSM-DIAL
options can be set. Help -
displays GSM-DIAL help file.
