Moeller PS4 Communication Server
The Klinkmann Automation Moeller PS4 (KMPS4) Communication Server is a Microsoft Windows application program that acts as a communication protocol Server and allows other Windows application programs to access data from Moeller SUCOcontrol PS4 Compact Programmable Controllers (PLCs) using Programming Device (PRG) interface (RS-232) on PLC. The present version of Server supports data exchange with PS4-201 Programmable Controllers. Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE, FastDDE, SuiteLink or OPC Client may use the KMPS4 Server. There are following KMPS4 Server versions available:
FEATURES The OPC support for KMPS4 Server OPC & DDE version conforms to OPC Data Access Custom Interface Specification 2.04. The KMPS4 Server OPC & DDE version is tested for compliance and is compatible with OPC Foundation OPC Data Access Compliance Test Tool. The KMPS4 Server DDE & Suite Link version (if running on MS Windows NT) supports the Wonderware Suite Link communication protocol. The Server is intended for serial communication with the controller through the PS4-201 PLC Programming Device (PRG) interface. Connection to the host computer is through the RS-232 serial port. The marker area of the basic PLC can be accessed. Other operand types (inputs, outputs, parallel bus markers, etc.) can be accessed through the basic unit markers by adding appropriate instructions in the PLC program. Minimizes system message traffic by dynamically calculating and optimizing poll lists for client-requested items/points. Supports multiple topics for each PLC, allowing different data update rates. Provides a communication status flag for each topic. Supports standard DDE among multiple applications.
SPECIFICATIONS Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously. Software:Microsoft Windows 95 (98), Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, W2K and XP. Maximum Connections: Supports only point-to-point connections (one PLC to one serial port). Devices Supported: Moeller PS4-201 PLCs. Accessible Data Types: Within the KMPS4 DDE Server, item/point naming depends on naming conventions of markers (flag memory area) for Moeller PS4 PLCs. Due to the dynamic memory management in the SUCOsoft S 30-S 4-200 software used for the PLC programming, the KMPS4 DDE Server can access only markers of the basic unit (PLC). Other operand types (inputs, outputs, parallel bus markers, etc.) can be accessed through basic unit markers by adding appropriate instructions in the PLC program. The markers can be accessed as words, bytes and bits.
