PROFIBUS DP DDE Server

The Klinkmann Automation PROFIBUS DP DDE Server is a Microsoft Windows NT application program that acts as a communication protocol Server and allows other Windows application programs access data from DP slaves, using PROFIBUS (SINEC L2) DP protocol. Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE or FastDDE Client may use the PROFIBUS DP Server.

FEATURES

The Server communicates with DP slaves using the CP 5412 (A2) communication processor, installed in an IBM PC or compatible computer and connected to PROFIBUS bus cable via bus terminal.

DP database, containing description of DP slaves and bus parameters, must be created with COML DP tool (part of DP-5412/MS-DOS,WIN V1.10 software package) or COM PROFIBUS tool (part of DP-5412/Windows NT V2.01 software package) and loaded to CP 5412 (A2). If MS Windows 3.x are used, loading must be performed before MS Windows 3.x are started.

Up to 123 DP slaves, with addresses 3...125, can be attached to the PROFIBUS network.

The Server supports multiple topics, allowing different data update rates for each DP slave.

The Server provides a communication status flag for each topic.

The Server supports standard DDE among multiple applications.

Supported DDE item types are Inputs and Outputs. Inputs and Outputs can be accessed as bits, bytes or words (signed or unsigned). Both German and English mnemonics can be used for item names.

S7-200 PLC variable memory area can be accessed as DP inputs and outputs. For such access: use STEP 7-Micro/Win V2.0 package to set Port 1 (DP port) parameters for CPU 215-2, and assign V memory offset for DP output area (DP input area follows DP output area) to SMW112.

For S7-200 PLC special interpreter mode is supported. It allows direct access to variable memory (rw), bit memory (rw), inputs (r), outputs (r). (r) - read only; (rw) - read and write.
Data in variable memory, bit memory, inputs and outputs can be accessed as bits, bytes, words, double words and strings.
To access data in interpreter mode:
- Use STEP 7-Micro/Win V2.0 package to set Port 1 (DP port) parameters for CPU 215-2.
- Include call to interpreter subroutine SBR 0 in PLC program.

S7-300 PLC data blocks, bit memory and process image area can be accessed as DP inputs and outputs. For such access:
- Configure S7-300 PLC L2-CP module as DP slave and set bus parameters with NCM S7 for PROFIBUS.
- Call FC DP-SEND in PLC program, to send DP inputs to DP master.
- Call FC DP-RECV in PLC program, to receive DP outputs from DP master.

For S7-300 PLC special interpreter mode is supported. It allows direct access to data blocks (rw), bit memory (rw), inputs (r), outputs (r), peripheral inputs (r), peripheral outputs (r), counters (r) and timers (r). (r) - read only; (rw) - read and write.
Data in data blocks, bit memory, inputs and outputs can be accessed as bits, bytes, words, double words and strings. Peripheral inputs and outputs can be accessed as bytes, words, double words and strings. Counters and timers can be accessed as words. To access data in interpreter mode:
- Configure S7-300 PLC L2-CP module as DP slave and set bus parameters with NCM S7 for PROFIBUS.
- Call Interpreter FB 101 in PLC program, to receive data requests and send responses to PROFIBUS DP DDE Server.

SPECIFICATIONS

Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously. Communication processor CP 5412 (A2) for attaching your PC to PROFIBUS. DP slaves complying with standard DIN E 19245 Part 3.

Software: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and DP-5412/Windows NT V2.01 software package.

In case of S7-300 PLC, STEP 7 basic package V2.1 and NCM S7 for PROFIBUS package V2.10, working under Windows 95, are necessary.

In case of S7-200 PLC with CPU 215-2 PROFIBUS DP, STEP 7-Micro/WIN V2.0 package is necessary.
