USS DDE Server

The Klinkmann Automation USS DDE Server is a Microsoft Windows 32-bit application program that acts as a communication protocol Server and enables other Windows application programs to access the data from converter devices supporting USS protocol (MICRO MASTER, 6SE21, 6RA24 etc.). The run-time system consists of one or several converter devices (slaves) connected to the host computer. The RS232 serial interface is used at computer side and RS232/RS485 converter must be used to communicate with converter devices.

Any Microsoft Windows program that is capable of acting as a DDE or FastDDE Client may use the USS Server.

FEATURES

The Server can read and write to each connected Converter internal parameters (Parameter Words) and the list of additional DDE items (Process Data Words) allows to control the commands sent to Converter and process the received response.

The broadcasting to multiple Converter devices is supported.

The RS232 to RS485 serial line converter must be used between IBM PC serial port and connected Converters. The alternately (never at the same time) activation of the Receiver and the Transmitter must be ensured. The serial link interface ENTRELEC model ILPH RS232/RS422-RS485 is recommended.

Minimizes system message traffic by dynamically calculating and optimizing poll lists for client-requested items/points.

Supports multiple topics for each Converter, allowing different data update rates.

Provides a communication status flag for each topic.

Supports standard DDE among multiple applications.

SPECIFICATIONS

Hardware: IBM or compatible 386/486/Pentium equipped with a minimum of 4 MB RAM (16 MB RAM for Windows NT). May require more memory to run other Windows programs simultaneously.

Software Microsoft Windows 95 (98), Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, W2K and XP.

Maximum Connections: Supports connection up to 31 converter devices on each serial port.

Devices Supported: MICRO MASTER, 6SE21, 6RA24 and other supporting converter devices supporting USS protocol.

Baud Rates Supported: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200.

Accessible Data Types: The USS Server can access up to 1023 Parameter Words from each Converter internal memory. The Server supports additional items representing Process Data Words and bits of these words, which allows user to check the contents of messages and to control the data exchanging between Server and Converter, as well as to control the Converter performance.
