Sokos Hotels

Sokos Hotels with 45 hotels is the largest hotel chain in Finland and in Estonia. The renovation of the landmark hotel in Tikkurila, Original Sokos Hotel Vantaa close to Helsinki Airport, has begun. As part of it, the hotel's room automation is being updated to meet the standards of the 2020s.

Located right next to Tikkurila travel center, the hotel has long been a favorite among travelers and evening revelers. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located near Helsinki-Vantaa Airport – for instance, the train journey there takes just over five minutes.

Rockwell Automation controllers have been chosen as the solution, enabling the implementation of flexible and cost-effective automation. Similar room automation solutions have been installed for several other significant hotel projects, such as for Finland´s largest hotel with 700 rooms, the new Airport Hotel at Helsinki-Vantaa.

The latest hotel project by Klinkmann with Rockwell Automation marks the first Sokos Hotel chain property to have Rockwell automation installed, essentially utilizing the Allen-Bradley Micro 800 system. After the renovation, there will be 265 rooms, 14 conference rooms and five restaurants, as well as an auditorium for 100 people. The hotel is operated by Sokotel Oy.

The new Rockwell Automation system allows fast engineering and installation with low life cycle maintenance costs. Original Sokos Hotel Vantaa reopens in November 2024 and the renovation will be completed in the spring of 2025. Electrification and automation will be installed by Paretec Oy.
